Wednesday Wishlist: Realisation Par Dupes

Posted on 2 min read

If you’ve been following my Wednesday Wishlist tradition for a month of Sundays then you’ll know by now that each week highlights the latest craze to hit both the blogosphere and the everyday high street; and if you pay closer attention you’ll know I never skimp when it comes to including my favourite picks as I go on an extensive online shopping hunt. This week’s focus is wrap dresses, of all kinds. Florals, ruffles, stripes, stars polka dots, long, short, probably too short for the bum conscious like me – you name it, I’ve got your back.

I’m sure you’re all familiar with what I’m talking about when I mention the fact these are almost all Realisation Par dupes; the luxury clothing line that surrounds Instagram as worn by those girl bosses who show how to work the attire that’s soared to cult status. I thought I’d grown out of pretty dresses a long time ago but this social media trend sucked me back in at full speed. They’re cutesy and feminine but classy and chic and all have that one specific charm – the tie over bow side, cliched at the waist for that extra defining leg; meaning whatever your frame it’s bound to be super flattering. I’m in love with pretty much every single one of these pieces, even the maxis and midis which I usually wouldn’t reach out for. I think as the weather forecast starts to pick up again my desire to hold a timeless dress to whip out for an easy, effortless delve into personal style is strong. They’re perfect for the summer, they’re perfect with heels, perfect with converse, perfect if you want to bring it out again in 5 years time, and I can’t get enough!

There’s 30 lust-worthy, affordable dresses for you to pine over and all identical to one you’d find on the original site. Just make sure people don’t check the label and you’ll be fine. In fact, more than fine. A walking, talking, sassy It Girl. You’re welcome.

AD | Wednesday Wishlist: Be All – Wear All

Hands up who loves keeping up with the latest trends whilst still managing to grab a style steal?! If I was the richest person in the world I still don’t think I’d lose my passion for fashion in the shape of high street and catwalk-inspired clothing. I’m the sort of person who can swoon over a designer piece yet still go back to the affordable – not only because it’s friendlier on the ol’ bank balance but because you can find exactly what you’re looking for with a quick click online.

There’s never an empty space on the market and the discovery of new retailers always turns the shiny halo on my head into devils horns purely because I have no off button – that was certainly the case when browsing WearAll on a chilled evening; feet up with a cuppa ready to pick out the attire ready to claim a space in my wardrobe. Their extensive collection offers something for everyone in size ranges from 6 to 26 and with all the modish clobber you’ll ever need!

I’m still a big sucker for gingham and frills at the moment so most of my favourite pieces revolve around the checked character and the added detail to create the killer combo – feminine but with a twist. Ruched sleeves are also huge currently and is a trend I’m digging wholeheartedly. Florals never die out and I’m so glad they’re big again this summer as I can recreate previous styles whilst varying in prints and colours. Then there’s the jumpsuits that never let me down; cool, casual, comfortable and can be dressed up however you desire. Truthfully, I’m spoiled for choice! Whatever your personal taste and preference or whatever occasion you’re buying for, you’re guaranteed to be a certified babe.

FLORAL CO-ORD SET | FLORAL OFF SHOULDER GYPSY TOP | LACE MAXI DRESS | GINGHAM PALAZZO TROUSERS | STRIPED JUMPSUIT | FLORAL BANDEAU JUMPSUIT | STAR DENIM TOP | PINK FRILL CO ORD SET | BLUE FRILL BOHO TOP | CROSS BACK LACE BODYSUIT | CROPPED 3/4 SLEEVE JACKET | GINGHAM WRAP OVER MINI SKIRT | FLORAL BELTED RUCHED SLEEVE TOP | GINGHAM BOHO CROP TOP | LACE UP EYELET JEANS

Wednesday Wishlist: Slogan Tee Trend

Posted on 2 min read

I’ve never been a casual dresser. For me, it’s either a pre-prepared coordinating outfit with classic style at the forefront, or nothing, but lately I’ve been swayed over to the mantra that you can be comfortable and casual yet still hold plenty of character and quirk in your attire for the day. Slogan tees are everywhere at the moment. I don’t suppose they’ve ever been out of fashion but now they’re part of the fashion that allows you to chuck on a t-shirt effortlessly whilst still making a statement.

Slogan tees really give me a flashback of nostalgia to the 90s where brand logos were the bomb. I love the efficacious vibe they give as that one strip of  block quote writing or funky design strikes attention. You really can’t go wrong with the fail-safe combination of jeans and a tee and the fact you can mix and match makes the concept even better. What’s great about a basic tee is the versatility; left to an open and adventurous mind it can become anything you desire. A chic get up paired with sunglasses and a designer handbag, a layer for a contrasting, heavily printed blazer or jacket, or just simply a plain duo of a white tee and black trousers. No matter what your style, they really are the ultimate starter pack for any wardrobe!

SHOP IN ORDER L/R: TOPSHOP ‘1990‘ | TOPSHOP ‘OK BYE‘ | WEEKDAY ‘EMOTIONAL’ | NEW LOOK ‘DAY OFF’STRADIVARIUS ‘WE ARE TOMORROW’ | MANGO ‘LET’S DANCE’ | H&M ‘LOVE’ | RIVER ISLAND ’90S R&B’ | PULL & BEAR ‘POWER VIBES’ | MINK PINK ‘ENCHANTED’ | BERSHKA ‘LET’S ROLL | MANGO ‘NOBODY CARES’ | LAZY OAF ‘ANTI SOCIAL’ | MANGO ‘ROCK & ROLL’ | NEW LOOK ‘FASHION MADE ME DO IT‘ | TOPSHOP ‘GIRLS RULE’ | TOPSHOP ‘FERME LA BUCHE’ | TOPSHOP ‘SICK’ | NEW LOOK ‘FRIYAY’ | ZARA ‘STAND UP FOR LOVE’ | BOOHOO ‘HUN’ | TOPSHOP ‘FEMALES OF THE FUTURE’ | STRADIVARIUS ‘MINDSETTER’ | H&M ‘GRL PWR’ | ZARA ‘GOLDEN STORM’

Spring/Summer 2017 Primark Haul

Posted on 3 min read

It’s that time of year again, folks! We’re now into June, scarily halfway through the year but the official classification of summer begins. With the beautiful weather we’ve had over the past few weeks I’m feeling a little spoiled and I know it’s more than likely to be jinxed and forecast to change drastically to what us Brits do best – dark skies and drizzle, but it’s really upped my excitement to dress lightly, airy and colourfully, and it’s also made me realise I do not own enough fresh, contemporary summer clothes.

So, where do you head when you’re lacking some lustre? Good ol’ Primark, of course. Or should I say, where do you head for some underwear and end up spending £100? Good ol’ Primark, of course. I’m sure I say this with every seasonal haul I do but they really are killing it at the moment, and the A/W press day that’s been gracing social media proves they’re about to stay at that illustrious level as the remaining months fly by and soon we’ll be putting up trimmings again (yikes).

When it comes to Primark I honestly don’t think I have any self control. Every time I go in there there’s something new on the shelves or dressy displays urging me to admire, try on, fall in love and then waste a good fifteen minutes of my life queuing up dying to let the world know about this outfit I’ve just bagged for £20 which looks triple the price it was. Over the past couple of months I’ve visited my local Primark way too much – as you’ll see as I proceed with broadcasting the excessive spending – and I’ve equipped  both my homeware and accessory collection and my wardrobe with a variety of pieces to cater for sunshine and to take away with me on my very first girl’s holiday to Tenerife in just 9 days!!

From those casuals to travel in, to those classier garments, comfy on trend basics, beach essentials, a familiar overload of stripes, the cutest swimwear collection to date, an absolute abundance of shoes and sandals, Oliver Bonas worthy furnishings, and probably the most talked about attire on Instagram – the glamorous touch of pretty, dainty bralets and their accompanied lingerie. I’ve bought it all and I still could have continued until I didn’t have a penny left in my bank (it’s not far off that at the moment if I’m honest, oops).

Before you all shout at me for blowing a colossal amount of money (don’t worry I’ve also had words with myself!) I do have some leeway as this has been a good three/four month process and I’ve just kept gathering up the goodies. I have been back in the shop since which was a definite mistake as I spotted another few new in pieces that I could have swiftly snapped up but I resisted, I found the courage, put them down and walked out of there ready to regret it when they sell out. Proud!

Have you been shopping in Primark lately? Have you picked up anything extraordinary? That famous Chip mug perhaps?

Wednesday Wishlist: The Beach Essentials

Posted on 4 min read

(A day late, I know, I apologise. This has sort of become the norm now. So much so that I probably don’t even have to mention it anymore!)

When the glorious sun is out and we’re now into the month of May (which for me means only one another month to go until I’m jetting off to Tenerife with the best friends anyone could ever ask for) there’s nothing more expected in my household than an attempt at an organised mindset as I conclude the last of my holiday spending to fill up the suitcase with everything a gal needs; amplifying my concealed excitement whilst doing so, of course.

Summer shopping is my favourite kind. Not just because of the mere thought of the short space until you’re spending your week abroad, sipping cocktails by the pool and dressing up to the nines after a day of lounging and tanning it up in red hot temperatures, but because of the variety, the pop of bright colours and the fun you can have mixing and matching your clothing and accessories. There’s no rule to say just because you’re spending the day in between sand and waves, dodging the seaweed and running as though your life depends on it as you avoid the scorching floor, sweating any minimal makeup off, rocking the beachy hair and getting lost in copious amounts of food, drink, and even a good book, that you can’t look the bomb simultaneously because you can, and this list obviously proves so.

Needless to say I’m not a light packer and nothing changes once I arrive on foreign ground. Along with the sunscreen, the lip balm, the cooling mist, the hairbrush, and the rest of the toiletries you carry, there’s some essentials in the fash-un department that you are bound to attach yourself to (only it’s the narrowing the divine selection down to a bag size that’s the problem!).

It goes without saying that you need swimwear of your own tastes. For me that includes absolutely everything (and I mean, everything). I put my middle finger up to the standards of both society and my body shape and I go for the designs I love. Embroidery? YES. Plunging? YES. Pretty, dainty two pieces? YES. A swimsuit that somehow makes my thighs look even larger than they already are? HELL TO THE YES. When you’re roaming the beach it’s like a sense of freedom and that shows in the comfort of your confidence. Obviously a cover up doesn’t ever go amiss, either. Not necessarily to cover up but to throw on when you need to head to the bar, when you’re strolling back or freshly showered. The sheer, floating material of your mix of sarongs, playsuits, kaftans, kimonos and sundresses is a forever favourite of mine as you can look the part whilst feeling the part effortlessly. The detail is another characteristic to shout about, especially in a co-ord set as you have double the vivacity! All florals, lace up, and bold prints are a summer cliche, and that follows on into the shoe and accessory department. I always think it’s handy to have a pair of both shoes with a fastening and an opening where you can just flick them off as you give your feet a rest. I also think it’s handy to be safer than sorry with a choice of fashion friendly and UV friendly sunnies, but that’s probably already a given.

Indubitably, a day of laughter and relaxation and photographs and golden skin isn’t achievable without a bag to carry the incentives in. This is your most important decision because it will be carted around for the entirety and A) you don’t want a broken back, B) nor a broken bag, and C) it’s got to be made to cater for both the weight and the quantity of items. A sensible starter is to aim for holdall size, then moving on to the solidness of the material and finally the storage pockets. I recently came across MAHI Leather, a luggage and bag company that is made to order not only for you to personalise but to reduce wastage and cut out the middle men. They have everything from duffle bags, to holdalls, to backpacks, to satchels, to totes and each one is lovingly made in soft, beautiful leather with a strong build and a classic aesthetic. Aaaand just as you thought they couldn’t improve their ethic, every $1.50 made from sales is donated to FRANK Water, a charity that provides clean water for over 100 families in India… which means as you’re enjoying the privileges beside the fresh waves, you can be rest assured there’s hope for the same around the world.

Wednesday Wishlist: Mango S/S Edit

Posted on 2 min read

STRUCTURED BLAZER | BLACK ASYMMETRICAL RUFFLE DRESS | EMBROIDERED TULLE SHIRT | PINK BOW SWEATER | INTERWOVEN CORD SKIRT | TASSLED EARRINGS | SLOGAN T-SHIRT | QUILTED CROSS BODY BAG | GINGHAM CROPPED TOP | GINGHAM RUFFLED SLEEVE T-SHIRT | BLUE FRILLED COTTON DRESS | BELT STRIPED DRESS | CHECK COTTON JUMPSUIT | STRAIGHT EYELET JEANS | GINGHAM CHECK DRESS | CHECK RUFFLED TROUSERS | WHITE CORSET T-SHIRT | EMBROIDERED LOAFERS | FLORAL LACE TOP | STRIPE WRAP BLOUSE

Rumour has it that Mango is everyone’s favourite place to shop at the moment. And when I say everyone, I mean the bloggers and the vloggers and the instragrammers over on social media influencing my spendy culture. I’d be lying if I said the reason I headed over to the cosy corner of my room to browse online for a good hour or so of time I don’t necessarily have spare was purely implemented from my own decisions, because it wasn’t. I’ve always had a soft spot for Mango with it being along the same lines as Zara, Stradivarius and Bershka (my three ultimate favourites always); I adore their fresh approach to fashion, the structured pieces, the investment basics paired with an obscene amount of prints and the following up of all the latest trends but it’s the recent hype around Mango that’s made me fall head over heels for the underrated classic all over again.

There’s so many beautiful items that caught my eye – from cute bralets to complete your summer holiday outfit (or to layer over longer garments as the weather can’t make its mind up what season its in back home), to as many ruffles as a ruffle obsessive can bask in, to the key gingham and stripe designs and even incredible replicas of those designer must haves such as the famous Gucci loafers. I’ve even jumped out of my comfort zone with inspiration from everywhere; the bold pops of colour and clash of prints aren’t something I’d usually go for, nor is the dramatic earring style but I’m gonna blame my biggest style crush for that. Megan is held responsible entirely for my daring approach and really finding myself as of late.

Saying that, I am stuck between what to buy at the moment. Do I continue with the knitwear hunting, add to my summer holiday wardrobe, or jump in-between with the lightweight a la mode attire? I don’t really have an answer for that but what I do know is I must own at least two of my listed pieces to form a practical and well worn outfit sooner rather than later!

Have you shopped at Mango lately? What’s your current go to store?
